Summer College for Teachers, June 2012

Kurt Spellmeyer leads our opening discussion regarding poetry, novels,
and non-fiction prose as historically situated genres.

Teachers engaged with the opening session.

Regina Masiello and Michael Goeller led the session on the second day.

A break-out session on developing an assignment sequence.

This year's Summer College for Teachers is holding sessions in both June and August.  The session on June 4th and 5th was well received by teachers from Red Bank, Metuchen, Bayonne, Keansburg, and Roxbury Township.  We had a lively exchange on the Common Core State Standards for English and worked on developing strategies for incorporating complex, non-fiction texts into the curriculum.   We look forward to working more with our new colleagues in the coming year.
